Manufacturing Site Selection in China is a costly and time-consuming process for Western companies interested in investing in China. Managers can save months and tens of thousands of dollars by taking advantage of the on-site surveys Silk Road Communications has already performed on almost 40 China Economic Development Zones (EDZs).

Jiangsu and Zhejiang Provinces extend from Shanghai to the north, south and west for 200 km. EDZs within this target area contribute nearly a quarter of the GDP of all China. Their infrastructures are well-developed, tax preferential treatments generous and administrative practices progressive. Industries most favored in the region are:

  • automotive parts

  • chemical

  • plastics and rubber manufacturing

  • hi-tech

  • electronic

  • textile

  • light industry

  • food processing

  • machinery

Participants will visit the following Economic Development Zones (EDZs) in this order:

1. Jiaxing ETDZ

2. China Singapore Industrial Park Suzhou

  • EDZs of Jiangsu and Zhejiang Provinces

  • Joint Ventures versus Going-it-Alone

Zones in the Tour are Top 10 Picks because:

  • Lodging in hotels with at least a 4-star rating.

Why Tour with SRC?

So why not just go to these EDZs on your own? Simple: there is power in numbers, and SRC's stellar relationships with Chinese government officials.

Top-level Chinese government officials are much more disposed toward meeting with large delegations than with small groups -- especially if the companies are small- or medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Contacts at this level are difficult for SMEs to make on their own, but critical to the success of their investments during the first two years of their projects. In China, you've got to have friends; and the higher placed, the better for the stability and profitability of your investment.

SRC has developed relationships with literally hundreds of government officials throughout China that manage the Economic Development Zones. The relationships help ensure Western companies are well attended to when they tour the EDZs. SRC relationships facilitate appointments with high-level officials, increase the depth and quality of tours, expedite relationship-building and match-making on the highest order possible within the constraints of this fast-developing economy.

For instance, on a recent corporate tour of the China Singapore Industrial Park Suzhou, SRC was able to arrange for its clients to meet with the top Communist Party leader of Suzhou and with the Director of the China Singapore Industrial Park Suzhou.
